Vacancies 2026

Account Manager B2C / Retail ⛵️

Who and what is Portokali?

We are a company that organizes sailing vacations in the broadest sense of the word. We organize flotillas (guided sailing vacations) in Greece and Croatia for hundreds of boats every year, we give sailing courses from beginner to professional level, we have companies visiting us with sometimes as many as 200 people, and we organize the nicest (anniversary) trips for clubs and other groups. And of all that, you can become an important part!

What will you do?

At Portokali, we generally do not work with tightly framed positions, but the department this job most often falls under is “sales.

In the beginning, you will be primarily involved in picking up requests for sailing vacations. This means that you will contact people with requests that come in through our website. You call people, ask questions about their vacation plans and then tell them an enthusiastic story that makes them want to go on vacation. Then you work out this enthusiastic story in a nice proposal and send it by e-mail.

Proposal approved and booked? Then you remain the guests’ contact person up to and including their vacation. You make sure that all their questions are answered, that they receive all the necessary information on time and that the booking is further neatly administered and handled in various systems.

But, as mentioned, we don’t work with defined functions. The above will initially be your main task, but there is certainly room to take on other tasks, to broaden your knowledge or to come up with your own input. We work with an office team of about 10 people, spread over the Netherlands and Greece, in an informal and open atmosphere. There are also plenty of opportunities to grow.

Who are we looking for?

We prefer to work with someone who is familiar with sailing vacations abroad and who likes to inspire others. But if you lack this knowledge but are very enthusiastic about the position, we would still like to talk to you.

In addition, it is important that you are assertive and can work accurately. It is also nice if you can easily start a nice conversation with people and are not shy to pick up the phone. Finally, we expect you to be able to communicate well via e-mail and to find the right tone with a variety of guests. One time you will be dealing with a family that is coming to sail for the first time, another time with a group of students for an anniversary outing and yet another time with the CEO of a large company that wants to visit.

What do we have to offer?

A very nice team to work with (even if we say so ourselves) and a nice, open working atmosphere. You will quickly get a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of freedom in how you do your work. Furthermore, you will receive a competitive salary, a Macbook & iPhone (+ unlimited subscription), 25 vacation days and the opportunity to work from Greece on a regular basis. We also regularly organize fun drinks parties and activities in the Netherlands, both with the office team and with the more than 100 skippers we now have in our pool.

Summary:

  • Full-time sales position at Portokali (39 hours per week)
  • Salary indication: €2500 – €3400
  • Working partly in Almere and partly at home
  • Going to Greece several times a year for ‘work’
  • Start date by mutual agreement (yesterday?😉)
  • Company laptop and phone
  • You will become part of a fun and close-knit team!

Vacancies

Operations & office coördinator⛵️

Portokali is looking for reinforcements!

Who and what is Portokali?

We are a company that organizes sailing vacations in the broadest sense of the word. We organize flotillas (guided sailing vacations) in Greece and Croatia for hundreds of boats every year, we give sailing courses from beginner to professional level, we have companies visiting us with sometimes as many as 200 people, we have 16 of our own sailing yachts in Greece, and we organize the best (anniversary) trips for clubs and other groups. And of all that, you can become an important part!

What will you do?

At Portokali, we don’t generally work with tightly framed positions, but the department this job most commonly falls under is “office & operations coordinator.

You will mainly deal with the operational side of our base port on the island of Aegina, in Greece. You will join a close and friendly team, which consists partly of Dutch and partly of Greeks. You’ll also see many of our skippers (Dutch) and instructors (international) on location, so you’ll end up in a dynamic place with lots of interaction.

Your job is to make sure the change weekends run smoothly, that everything has been thought about and that the teams around you can do their jobs well.

Something more concrete:

  • You make sure everything is ready for our departure weekends: double-checking appointments with guests, connecting with the cleaning team and the base manager, and making sure all the paperwork is correct.
  • You monitor the quality of our sailing yachts: is the inventory correct, is everything neatly clean and ready to receive guests? You interact with the team around you and make sure all the details are right.
  • You also pay attention to the little things at the office: a colleague’s birthday, a new instructor, or someone who has something special to celebrate? You make sure the person is put in the limelight.
  • You supervise our team of sailing instructors: you review feedback forms, translate them into areas for improvement and discuss them with the instructors and your colleagues.
  • In time you can move up to instructor scheduling and billing. In this way you make sure that the team is complete, that new instructors are actively sought when needed, and that everyone gets paid properly. There is plenty of room to take responsibility for this later.
  • Wider interests or even more qualities? At Portokali, you are always free to bring things to you or look for areas of improvement within our company yourself. Assertiveness and enthusiasm is only encouraged!

This is not just any job:

Although we are a Dutch company, you will be based primarily on Aegina for this position. This is a beautiful Greek island, near Athens. Here we provide a home (shared with other Dutch employees), transportation (own scooter and shared car) & of course we provide airfare to go home to see friends and family several times a year. If they haven’t all come by you on Aegina already! 😉

This position suits you as…

  • You always keep an overview and work with precision.
  • You can switch well between people and tasks: from guest contact to team meetings and (managing) your colleagues.
  • You exude a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere that makes people feel welcome and at ease. Both guests and your colleagues.
  • You can communicate clearly and friendly, both in Dutch and English.
  • You like being on a Greek island, love the sun, good food, fun and happy people. And if you have an affinity for sailing, that is of course also very nice – but certainly not a must. That will come naturally… 😉

This is what you get in return:

  • Quickly a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of freedom in how you do your job.
  • An open and friendly working atmosphere with a dynamic international team.
  • A Dutch contract with therefore also a Dutch market-based salary.
  • So you also build up a pension in the Netherlands.
  • 8% vacation allowance.
  • 25 vacation days per year.
  • Macbook and iPhone with unlimited company subscription.
  • Opportunity to work temporarily from the Netherlands 3 times a year.
  • Many activities (sailing trips, get-togethers, courses and team outings) throughout the year.
  • Accommodation and transportation on Aegina.
  • Salary range: €2300 – €3000 per month.

If the above makes you enthusiastic, we would love to get in touch with you. Even if you have doubts about whether you exactly fit the profile, we would love to talk to you to see if we can do something for each other. So feel free to send us a message and who knows, see you soon!
