BQ Yachting | Beautiful Weather Sailing is now called Portokali

But, no worries, nothing will be lost from the current state of affairs. We still work with the same team, continue to provide (at least) the same quality and service as always and most importantly of course: the flags remain orange!
Why a new name?
First, once part 1 of the current name: BQ Yachting. This name was coined some 13 years ago by Bouke and Querijn, the founders of our company. After only a few months, Querijn became the sole (and current) owner, so the name was actually no longer representative. In addition, it sounds uninviting and inaccessible for a cozy vacation, which is precisely what we stand for.
Then part 2 of the current name, which was added about 8 years ago to capture a little better what we actually do: sailing in good weather. Beautiful Weather Sailing, in other words. But try explaining that name to someone from outside our little country. When a Greek tries to pronounce this, it quickly sounds like a scary spell. Hence, it was time to change tack: Portokali.

Portokali? What is that?

So that’s us as of March 1, 2021! Portokali is Greek for “orange. And if there is anything we are known for, it is the yachts with the orange flags and the skippers with the orange shirts. So we will definitely continue to use those orange attributes as well, but with a slightly different name on them.   In addition, Portokali is the name of our company’s first sailing yacht. This yacht has been used as the mother ship of flotillas from Athens, Lefkas, Kos and Corfu, among others, for about 30 weeks a year for the past 8 years, so many people will recognize the name and hopefully have fond memories of it.
