Below you can read a travel report that we received from one of our previous guests. Instead of an example route written by us, here you can read the experiences of someone who has actually made this trip before. Including (most) photos!
Please note, every week is different! This report is of a one-week route, so you get a nice idea of the atmosphere and the area, but the route is never fixed. You can also choose to go for two weeks and then you will see even more beautiful destinations!

On the departure day, the yacht will be ready in Pythagorion.
The lively town that is very close to the airport and owes its name to Pythagoras – the famous philosopher and mathematician.
After a smooth arrival day and a pleasant dinner with the fellow flotilla sailors, it is time for the first night on the boat: this is always a celebration!
After the briefing, we know that today we are going to Marathokampos.
Another village on Samos.
We sail along the coast of Samos to the west.
We anchor briefly at a beautiful little uninhabited island for lunch, and we sail on past the imposing Samos.
All those little mountain villages you see from the water, Samos looks very authentic!
No high-rise buildings or overcrowded coastal town along the coast. Samos really exudes tranquility.
Arriving in Marathokampos, the harbor master is already waiting with his little boat to show us to our spot.
We are served by two mooring lines and the quay is also neat and tidy.
How well organized this is by Greek standards!
The village is otherwise very small and has exactly everything you need; a bakery, supermarket, restaurant and a beach!
It is a wonderful place to spend your vacation.
The next day we headed to Fournoi.
A big paint splatter on the menu if you ask me.
One of the fellow flotilla guests saw a lobster in it.
Anyway, there are plenty of bays and beautiful coves.
We left Marathokampos on time and sailed toward Fournoi to find one of the beautiful bays there for lunch.
After swimming and reading a book all afternoon, we arrive at the port of Fournoi.
A new port where there is more than enough room for everyone.
The village is very cute with a nice village square.
As often happens in small places like this, the harbor is really the beating heart of the community.
Today we go to Pathmos, we leave on time because in the afternoon we would like to visit the big monastery on top of the mountain.
After arriving at the big port we rent scooters and go up to the Chora (often the oldest inhabited part of the island) and visit the monastery.
Very impressive!
In the evening we have dinner in the middle of the village and the young people go out for a while when we return to our beds.
The next two days there is a little more wind predicted and we dive a little into the lee towards Agatonisi.
The first stretch we have 25 knots in pathmos bay, and we are racing against the other yachts in the flotilla!
Everyone is busy setting a reef (or 2!), steering the right course, and you can see a lot of activity on board with everyone.
No one wants to be the last one out of the bay:).
It is beautiful sailing as there are no waves and the wind is very constant.
Once we are out of the bay there is a little more wave action, but we know that it is getting less and less (as we get into the lee of Samos in terms of waves) and it is a wonderful long day of sailing to Agatonisi.
At Agatonisi, the wind is indeed a little less and we sail the last bit with a nice 12 knots still towards the tiny island.
The flotilla leaders are already waving at us and we are allowed to moor alongside.
It took some puzzling to get everyone in, but in the end we were beautifully moored.
This is a typical little spot where you don’t have to do anything for a while.
Some went for a walk up the mountain, the youngest children played soccer and on some yachts people had a nice drink together.
The next day we leave a little later.
The wind dies down a bit during the day, and although we don’t notice it much here, we see on Windy’s wind charts that it does still blow hard further west.
After a quiet morning and the outer yachts leaving, it’s our turn as well.
With slightly clammy hands we leave.
Would it indeed be quieter outside…?
We hoisted the 2nd reef as a precaution, but after a few minutes we noticed that this was really too cautious.
We sailed on with the first reef for a while but it was soon taken out.
At a steady 17-18 knots we sail towards Lipsi, which we can soon see.
Next to the harbor we take a dip in one of the bays and then we go into the harbor.
What a wonderful day!
In Lipsi we eat fantastically delicious food and the location in the middle of the village is really beautiful.
Again it is very different and well taken care of all.
The next day we sail back to Pythagorion, the home port.
It’s a nice long day of sailing yet.
High on the wind but with less and less waves: how I like it!
Fortunately, this place is so nice that it doesn’t feel like the end of the sailing vacation just yet.
We have dinner together at a restaurant on the boulevard and in the evening we all end up in a bar where Hans gets to operate the playlist.
All the music we shared during the flotilla comes by and it really becomes ‘our’ party.
What a finale!
We still have a bit of stinging eyes the next morning when we leave the yacht but luckily we have 5 more days here on the island.
I am very curious about the rest of Samos!
But first we are going to spend a night getting used to sleeping in a house instead of on our fine boat with rippling water….
